Abstract
A postgraduate seminar on “Academic writing and publication issues” was recently included in an innovative program, “Educational Program for International Nursing Professionals” at Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU), Tokyo. This article provides an overview of the seminar which was conducted in three parts; 1) lecture section on writing an article, 2) lecture section on publication issues, and 3) closing discussion session. Students were also provided tips on sources and references in order to deepen knowledge and continue garnering information on issues concerning writing and publishing scientific articles. In feed-back evaluations of the seminar, students agreed that attending seminars like this one is worthwhile. Including seminars on academic writing in postgraduate nursing education would be a positive development, supporting today's students who will become tomorrow's publishing researchers.
