Bromcresol Green Dextrose Broth for the Presumptive Identification of Group B Streptococci

　ペニシリン耐性B群レンサ球菌に関する報告が（以前より）多くされるようになり，更にB群レンサ球菌の病原菌としての報告も多くなってきたので，このB群レンサ球菌を分別して検出することが重要となった．レンサ球菌の群別を行うのにデキストロース・ブイヨンのpHの違いを利用するという報告が，幾人かの研究者によって行われている．A群ではpH5.0ないしそれ以上に，B群とD群はpH4.6またはそれ以下にあるというpHの差がある．この研究の目的は，B群レンサ球菌の同定のための暫定的分別法として，デキストロース・ブイヨンのpHを利用することの有用性を検討することである．

INTRODUCTION-The differentiation of group B streptococci is becoming more important as reports of these organisms developing penicillin resistance^*1 are becoming more frequent and as more group B streptococci are being reported as etiologic agents in pathologic lesions.^*2 Several workers have reported the use of pH in dextrose broth as a means of differentiating streptococci. This pH difference is approximately 5.0 and above for group A and 4.6 or lower for groups B and D. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the feasibility^*3 of using the final pH in dextrose broth as a differentiating feature for the presumptive identification of group B streptococci.
