鉄代謝は厳密に体内で調節されており,トランスフェリン(Tf),トランスフェリンレセプター1(TfR1),血清フェリチンなどが鉄代謝を反映する重要な関連分子である.鉄と結合していないTfを鉄の結合能力に換算したものが不飽和鉄結合能(UIBC)であり,鉄結合TfとUIBCを合わせて総Tfとし,これを総鉄結合能(TIBC)という.これら検査指標の値を参考にして,総合的に病態を解明することが重要である.
Iron metabolism is strictly influenced by some important related molecules such as Tf (transferrin), TfR1 (transferrin receptor 1), and serum ferritin. The Tf which doesn't unite with iron is identified as having an UIBC (unsaturated iron binding capacity), which is converted into the combining ability of iron. The iron binding Tf and UIBC are assumed in the total Tf, which is called TIBC (total iron binding capacity). It is important to clarify the overall condition referring to the value of these inspection indices.
