A case of Paget's disease with a marked facial changes is reported.
A woman, aged 44, complained of facial changes by swelling of the upper and lower jaws, a large swelling below the right ear and malformation of the extremities. Her carriage resembled that of an anthropoid ape. The subauricular swelling was found to be an epithelial cyst.
The changes in the lower extremities began to take shape when patient reached her low-teens and facial changes in the early twenties. X-ray showed hypertrophic bony changes in the maxilla, mandible and the parietal bone. The mastoid cells of the left ear were absent and composed of sloid bony tissues. Changes were, also, seen bones of the extremity. There was a disturbance of hearing in both ears, especially the left in which the bony changes appeared to be severe; the disturbance appeared to be a progressive loss.
Adrenal cortex hormone was employed in the treatment.
