  • Look Inside

External decompression is an effective treatmentfor acute intracranial hypertension, but the repairof cranial defect by cranioplasty is necessary sooner orlater. Various materials have been used for cranio-plasty, such as bone, metallic materials and methylmethacrylate.

Alumina ceramic (Bioceram®), which is known tobe extremely compatible with tissues, has already beenused in the operations of not only orthopedic and oralsurgery but also neurosurgery such as transsphenoidalsurgery and anterior cervical fusion.

At first, we implanted pieces of ceramic and smalltitan shield in the parietal bone of mongrel dogs.
