  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Although corticosteroids have been widely used in neurosurgical cases, it seems likely that a definite and unanimously accepted usage of this hormone has never been established. Accordingly the comparative studies of its effect are quite difficult.

In order to assess the anhedematous effect of this hormone more clearly, corticosteroids were administered in the five different ways (Fig. 1), and chronological changes of clinical signs and symptoms were observed in each type. In this series betamethasone was used in 67 patients admitted to our department or partially treated in Our outpatient clinic.
