  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The parietal association cortex is well known to be concerned with the awareness of body schema and spatial relationships (Penfield 1966). However, the lesion of the parietooccipital cortex in human brain also causes various disorders in voluntary movements. Balint (1909) described psychic paralysis or visual fixation and optic ataxia in the case of bilateral parietal lesion. Liepman (1905)ascribed the ideomotor apraxia, which is a disturbance of gestural movement to the lesion of supramarginal gyrus (area 7 b or PF) of dominant hemisphere.
