Abstract

The subjects of this paper are the character of an EEG pattern and clinical features which devel-oped in the third stage in all of the 14 Alzheimercases reported in Part I.

1) The EEG pattern was mainly consisted of quasirhythmic (2~5Hz), diffuse (frontal domi-nant), and bilateral synchronous waves of high amplitude, forming often slow wave bursts and or sharp wave-slow wave complexes. It was suppressed by external stimuli in the early period of its development, but later persisted even during eyes opened. It disappeared during sleep, and after an intravenous injection of diazepam or amobarbital.
