  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The insulin-like growth factor Ⅱ(IGF Ⅱ), which is one of major IGFs, is a small mitogenic polypeptide with structural and functional homology to the hormone insulin. In vitro, IGF Ⅱ stimulate a broad range of insulin-like actin, including acute metabolic effects, as well as long term mitogenic effects. Although the actin of IGF Ⅱ in vivo is less well defined, studies of IGF Ⅱ expression suggest that it has a function in fetal and early neonatal development. Recent evidence also indicates that IGF Ⅱ may serve an important factor in the function of the central nervous system.
