Frontal lobe, motor behavior, and reward-based motor control in primates

前頭葉は言うまでもなく霊長類で著しく発達した領域で，その機能は多様多彩である。ここでは行動と運動の制御という観点から高次運動野についてまとめ，次いで報酬獲得行動に関与する帯状皮質について論ずる。特に帯状溝に存在する帯状皮質運動野については一般に記載が少ないので，詳細に紹介をすることとした。

Frontal cortex of primates is involved in many aspects of behavioral control. We here summarize briefly the current state of knowledge about higher motor areas, and then discuss about structures and functions of the cingulate motor areas. We try to emphasize the selectivity of neuronal activity in each motor area that could be revealed only when studied appropriately by designing specific behavioral conditions. As for the cingulate motor areas, we comment on the correspondence between cytoarchitechtonic parceletion of the medial frontal cortex and functional subdivisions of the cingulate motor areas. We subsequently introduce a study examining the role of the rostral cingulate motor area in reward-based motor selection.
