　前立腺癌症例において，LH-RH作動薬長期投与時における睾丸機能を検討した。睾丸組織は生検あるいは除睾術により得た。LH-RH作動薬を8ヵ月以上投与した3例の睾丸組織像は精子形成は認められず，Leidig細胞の萎縮変性ならびに細胞数の減少，精細管壁の肥厚がみとめられた。また，5ヵ月間LH-RH作動薬投与された症例では睾丸の組織は正常例と明らかな差をみとめなかつた。以上より，LH-RH作動薬は長期投与時には睾丸に不可逆的変化をもたらすと考えた。

Histological changes of testis treated by LH-RH agonist (LHRHA) were investigated in four patients with prostatic cancer. The testes treated by LHRHA (Leuprolide, continuous administration by vinyl polymer composite) over eight months showed marked spermatogcnic suppression, decreased number of Leidig cells and thickening of peritubular membrane. However the testes treated by LHRHA (Buserelin, intranasal administration) for 3 months did not show any significant change discribed above. It was estimated that irreversible histological changes in testes were caused by prolonged LHRHA administra-tion.
