A 57-year-old male visited the emergency room of our hospital on. January 9, 1982, because of edematous swelling of the penis and dysuria due to incarceration of the penis by a metal ring which he put for mischief twenty-four hours previously. The metal ring was successfully removed in 30 minutes by means of dental cutting instrument without any complications.

Fifty-four cases of incarceration of the penis, including our case, were reported in Japan and were studied as to the age distribution, the relationship between the motive and the constricting object, the complications and the treatment.
