  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

To know the pathophysiology of the allergic dermatoses, the serum complement level (CH50),its diurnal changes, and the titers of nine components of the complement in them were measured.

1) Normal level of CH50 was 37.7±5.8 u.

2) CH50 in various skin diseases was within 20 to 70 unit. Rather high levels were noted in patients with the generalized eruptions or with general symptoms. There was no disease speci-ficity on CH50 level except SLE.

3) CH50 in SLE was under 30 u. in almost all cases, which was lower than that of normal control.

4) Diurnal variation of CH50 was assayed every 4 hours. The difference was 10-20 u. betweenurticaria and erythrodcrmia with fever.

It was around 5 u. in normal control, SLE, and miscellaneous dermatoses.

5) Although, the fractions which gave influences on CH50 have been assumed C3' and C4', there was no significant changes in C3' inactivator.
