  • Look Inside

A 56-year-old woman developed the disease after the common-cold-like symptoms with angina.

The skin lesions at its severest stage were located on the face, neck, chest, back and upper extremities above the wrist.

The ASL titer at her first visit was 625 Todd unit, which went well with the clinical conditions during the course of 2 years.

Histologic specimen showed the swelling and fragmentation of the collagen, and the clift formation of the connective tissuse where existed PAS and alcian blue positive substance. It was digested by the hyaluronidase.

Because statistical studies on this disease of 209 cases by Greenbery showed that about half of them were under the age of 20, the author used the name scleroedema instead of scleroedema adultorum.
