A 39-year-old woman had a scar after pyogenic dermatosis on the right hypogastrium at the age of 15, which enlarged gradually 5 years later.
At her first visit, she had an uneven, irregularly shaped, 5×8cm in size, faint brown or dark red in color, elastic hard tumor with teleangiectasia in some part, and accompanied with a board-like subcutaneous infiltration toward the right flank.
Lymphnode swelling, metastasis, and abnormal results of laboratory tests were not proved.
Extirpation of large mass of tumor with normal skin of 1-2cm in width was performed. No recurrence was observed 11 months after operation.
Histologic specimen showed the mass of undifferentiated fibroblasts intermingled with connective fibers throughout the dermis, which partly penetrated into the subcutis. There was marked proliferation of collagen fibers, but findings suggesting malignant change were not proved.
Statistic studies on 40 reported cases in Japan were performed.
