Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome (MRS) is a rare syndrome consisting of a classical triad of recurrent facial palsy, facial swelling, and fissured tongue. A male patient presented with triad and had a family history of facial palsy. Our clinical diagnosis was typical MRS. Biopsies were taken from his lower lip. However, histology showed non-specific inflam-mation with no evidence of “cheilitis granu-lomatosa”. During his hospitalization facial nerve decompression operation was not performed, but he was treated by the Stennert's method. Two weeks later, his facial nerve function showed gradual improvement.
