  • Look Inside

A 64-year-old female complained of pain at an erosive region in left side of the tongue. Biopsy showed histopathological features of squamous cell carcinoma. Partial glossectomy was performed, but 4 months later,a lymph node at submental area was found. Echo study showed a round lymph node at the submental area and other multiple oval lymph nodes at the left lateral neck. Fine needle aspiration biopsy at the submental lymph node showed squamous cell carcinoma. Therefore we performed supraomohyoid neck dissection. Histopathological diagnosis was sqamous cell carcinoma at the submental lymph node, but tuberculous lymphadenitis was found in other multiple oval lymph nodes. The patient had been treated by chemotherapy for tuberculous lymphadenitis for six months. The tongue carcinoma showed no recurrence for 20 months, and tuberculous lymphadenitis had no recurrence for 13 months.
