  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

A 5-year-old girl developed bilateral visual blurring and purpura in the legs. Her initial visual acuity was 0.1 right and 0.03 left. Funduscopy showed hyperemia of the optic disc and extensive sheathing of retinal veins and arteries in both eyes. Fluorescein angiography showed hyperpermeability of arteries and veins in the peripheral retina. Hematological studies including viral antibodies gave normal findings. Treatment with systemic corticosteroid induced rapid improvement in fundus findings followed by massive exudation in the posterior fundus in both eyes. The exudates gradually faded away during the ensuing one-year period of observation.
