A 4-year-girl presented with redness and swelling of the right eyelids of one week's duration. There was no visual loss or disturbed ocular motility. Systemic antibiotics and drainage for orbital cellulitis were ineffective. Systemic dexamethasone in massive dosis with amikacin induced prompt improvements of clinical signs. This case illustrates that systemic corticosteroid may be effective for orbital cellulitis which does not respond to antibiotics or drainage.
