  • Look Inside

We reviewed 65 eyes of early-stage branch retinal vein occlusion treated according to our guideline estblished 5 years ago. Fifteen eyes with mild macular edema received conservative treatments, 22 eyes with medium-grade macularedema received photocoagulation, and 24 out of 28 eyes with severe macular edema received vitrectomty. The final visualacuity in 61 eyes was 0.3 or better in 61 eyes (100%), 0.5 or better in 54 eyes (89%), and 0.7 or better in 47 eyes (77%) . Visual acuity of 0.7 or better was attained in 14 of 24 eyes following vitrectomy for severe macular edema. The findingsshow that improvement of visual acuity can be expected at a high rate even in eyes with severe macular edema whentreated by early vitrectomy.
