We evaluated 63 eyes of chronic open angle glaucoma with particular attention to visual field defects and optic disc findings by Heidelberg Retina Tomograph (Ver 1,11) . The visual field was examined by an Octopus 201, Program No.31. Topographic parameters were obtained for the disc area, cup area, cup/disc area ratio, rim area, cup volume, rim volume, maximum cup depth, cup shape measure and retinal nerve fiber layer thickness in the temporal quadrant of the disc. The relationship between the topographic parameters and the mean loss in visual field was analysed by multiple linear regression model. The analysis showed the cup shape measure to be the sole significant predictor of the mean defect. The finding shows that cup shape measure is a useful parameter which reflects the central visual field changes in glaucoma.
