Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of thymoma with bilateral macular edema. Case:A 41-year-old male presented with impaired vision in both eyes since 4 months before. Findings:Visual acuity was 1.2 without correction in either eye. Both eyes showed slight opacity in the aqueous and vitreous. Fundus findings were apparently normal. Fluorescein angiography showed findings simulating retinitis pigmentosa. Visual field was constricted in both eyes. Electroretinogram was almost extinguished. Systemic studies showed positive anti-recoverin antibody in the serum. Positron emission tomography(PET)showed thymoma. The patient was diagnosed with cancer-associated retinopathy. The ocular findings failed to respond to steroid pulse therapy or subtenon injection of triamcinolone. Conclusion:This case illustrates that thymoma may induce ocular findings simulating retinitis pigmentosa as manifestation of cancer-associated retinopathy.
