  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

We developed a photocoagulator using Q-switched YAG laser. The measurement of light transmission indicated that about 75% of 1,060 nm YAG laser reaches the ocular fundus in humans. Our present apparatus enables the photocoagula-tion of the fundus either with 1,060 nm or 530 nm monochromatic light. Ophthalmoscopic, fluore-scein angiographic and histopathological studies of monkey eyes treated by YAG laser photocoagula-Lion indicated that a more intense coagulation effect was produced in the choroid than in the retina when using 1,060 nm laser light.
