未熟児網膜症の函館地方における地域管理について

Management of the retinopathy of prematurity in Hakodate area

緒　言

　われわれの居住する函館市は図1のごとく北海道の南端に位置し，内地の一つの県の広さにあたる渡島半島の中心都市である。この地域には人口31万余の函館市を中心として24力町2村が存在し総人口は約60万である。この広い地域に眼科専門医は函館市にか常住せず，住民の眼の保健はわれわれ函館眼科医会のメンバーが受持つているわけである。函館には医科大学が存在せず，眼科医の常勤する総合病院は市立函館病院のみで，未熟児網膜症対策も，われわれ眼科開業医が担当する外ない状態である。この地域特性にもとづき，過去8年間われわれは未熟児網膜症対策を種々考案実行し見るべき成果を挙げたと考えられるのでここに報告する（未熟児網膜症の分類は昭和50年まではOwens^1）分類，51年よりは厚生省未熟児網膜症研究斑の診断基準^2）によつた）。

Ophthalmological management of premature babies in the Hakodate area (Hokkaido) was performed by a concerted effort of 6 ophthalmo-logists during the 8 years from 1969 through 1977. A total of 251 cases with retinopathy of prematurity were detected and treated. Through cooperation with gynecologists, pediatricians and public health nurses, the premature babies receiv-ing our control increased to 620 babies during 1976 and 77, including 177 babies below 2,000g and 443 babies below 2,500g.
