白内障手術後の化膿性眼内炎の治癒症例

Successfully treated endophthalmitis following cataract surgery

緒　言

　白内障手術後の化膿性眼内炎の発生は稀であるが，不幸にも発症すると，その予後は極めて不良で，失明に陥る場合が多く，重大な合併症となる。

　本例は抗生物質治療により幸いにも治癒し，良好な視力を回復することができた。

Postoperative endophthalmitis developed in a 73-year-old female as the first incidence in an uneventful consecutive series of 1,500 intracap-sular cataract extractions. The condition became manifest by ciliary injection and hypopyon on the 4th postsurgical day. Intensive systemic treat-ment with gentamicin sulfate, cefazolin and cephalexin saved the infected eye and resulted in a final corrected visual acuity of 0.8.
