ゴルフボール液体芯による異物性肉芽腫

Eye injury by core liquid of a golf ball

緒　言

　ゴルフボールの中には，その打球としての性能を良くするため，高圧の液体が封入されている。好奇心から，ボールを割つて内部を調べようとしたりする者が，時にその高圧液噴出をかぶることがある。この高圧液体芯による眼障害が，長南^1），井上^2）らによつて最近，相次いで報告されているが，われわれは同液の結膜のう内飛入後，長時間経過して，強い異物性肉芽を形成した1症例を経験したので，組織所見と合せて報告する。

We observed a case of foreign body granuloma induced by contact with the core liquid of a golf ball in a 35-year-old male. The patient came to us with a complaint of foreign body sensation in his left eye. Four years after accidental con-tact with the liquid, mild granulation developed in the subconjuctival space. The tissue was surgically excised and sent to histological exami-nation. Microscopic findings revealed numerous foreign body giant cells including crystalline substance and histiocytes of the epithelioid cell type.
