Foveal reflex.:Report 1.

緒　言

　中心窩反射は網膜中心窩機能の健否の診断に役だつ情報として，日常の眼底検査で観察される所見であり，その生成過程に関しては古くDimmer^1）の記載があるが，光学的検討は今日までほとんどなされていないので，屈折異常との関係を含めてここに報告する。

A bright spot reflex observed at the fovea by the direct method of ophthalmoscopy was inves-tigated from the optical point of view. The dioptric power of the ophthalmoscopic lens necessary to focus on the spot reflex and the fundus pattern of the fovea or the adjacent area were determined for 50 eyes. The difference in focusing was 2.04 dptr on an average, being more convex for seeing the reflex clearly. The theoretical formulae were derived to explain the formation of the reflex, which was considered to be resulted from the reflection at the foveal pit functioning as a concave mirror having a radius of curvature of 1.4mm.
