Moving Picture of cataract extraction

　この手術映画は16ミリボーレクス新型レフレツクスカメラと75ミリ望遠レンズとの間に接写リングをはめて拡大力を増大し，約70センチの距離から撮影した。このカメラはスチル撮影用のキネエキザクタやアサヒフレツクスと同様にパララクスがないので視差を生じない。使用フイルムはASA32でアンスコカラーの増感現像を行つた。

　照明としては500ワツト電球3個を約2mの距離から用い，手術室の冷房装置を動かして撮影したので患者は熱感を訴えず，角膜は余り乾燥しなかつた。しかし画面への反射を避ける位置に照明灯をおいたので，執刀者の私の眼には角膜は可なり輝いたので，細かな操作はやりにくい点もあつた。5例の全摘出手術を16ミリで約1000フイート撮影し，字幕共に600フイートに編集した。撮影速度は1秒16駒，同速度ならば映写時間は23分である。

The author showed a 16mm Ansco color moving picture of "Cataract Intracapsular Ex-traction" including use of author's speculum frame instead of ordinary frame, Van Lint akinesia and retrobulbar anesthesia with 2% xylocaine, rectus superior suture, extraction en route tambling and contra-action with strabismus hook, and 2 McLean sutures and a continuous suture of conjunctival flap. Corneo-scleral incision was made by Atkinson's method (1956) pulling up and down the preplaced suture with Castroviejo crossaction for-ceps.

As part 2 he showed Thorpe's method (1957) using 5 tract sutures and an intracorneal incision.
