トラコーマ伝染予防と共同浴場取締条例に就て

Prevention of Trachoma and Regulations for Public Bath

　トラコーマの予防上最も大事な事は一言で言えば清潔である。

　有明海沿岸特に福岡県山門郡大和村地方にてはトラコーマが極めて多く，或る小学校では児童は或は約70〜80％以上の「トラコーマ」罹患者があり，更に住民に就てはそれ以上の高率を占めている事があつた。私共は当時の進駐軍当局よりの勧告によつて同地方の学童のトラコーマを検査し（当時の久留米医科大学眼科教室員と共に検査したものである。その詳細は別に報告する機会あるものならんと思つている。）高率の「トラコーマ」あるを知り其の原因として種々の検討すべきものがあつたが，その中の一つとして同地方には共同浴場が非常に多く，その共同浴場が極めて非衞生的にして且つ水不足，燃料不足のため言語に絶する不潔なるを知つた。

Trachoma is prevalent in Yamato-mura, Yamato-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture. More than 70-80% of school children had been infected with trachoma, and a higher rate was found out in inhabitants of some villege. There are lot of the public bath at this district which is foul and insanitary. Regulations for public bath was legislated on August 1,1949. Those provide for that the bathtab should always be filled with bath water at 3/4 of itself and that the temperature of bath water should constantly be more 40 degree, etc.
