  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Light- and electron-microscopical investigations have been made on the rabbit cornea after app-lying the "semi-soft contact lens". The semi-soft contact lens proved to do less harm to the rabbitcornea than the hard one. Rabbits having worn a semi-soft contact lens for 10 days did not show any macroscopic corneal opacity. Microscopically, too, the epithelium array was not evidently de-stroyed.

With electron-microscope, it was observed that the rabbit cornea having worn a hard contact lens for 24 hours showed corneal edema but the semi-soft contact lens gave no change to the rabbit cornea under the same conditions.
