Variation of Intraocular Pressure Induced by Lid-Closure and the Relationship between Intraocular Pressure and Blood Flow in the Iris and Ciliary Body

緒言

　1662年Sir Richard Banister^1）が眼圧上昇が緑内障の本質的な症状として述べた最初の人とされている。以来，今日に至るまで，眼圧は緑内障の診断，および治療に当たつて最も重要な位置を占めており，負荷試験も大部分は眼圧の上昇を判定の目標としている。

　緑内障の成因に関しては^2）分泌過多説，強膜弾力性減退説，硝子体膨張説，循環障害説，自律神経障害説，眼圧中枢障害説，皮質中枢障害説，新陳代謝障害説，適応失調説，器械的流通障害説等が挙げられている。しかしながら，これらの説は一部は説明できても，これを以つて，すべてを理解することはできない。

I. Intraocular pressure test was conducted be-fore and after lid-closure for 30 to 45 minutes by the Schiötz tonometer.

1) In the case of 400 normal eyes, the fluc-tuations of intraocular pressure ranged from -5.48mmHg to +5.07mmHg.

2) Of 38 eyes affected by glaucoma inflamma-torium, 22 cases (57.9 per cent) showed an ele-vation of 6mmHg or more.

3) Of 31 eyes affected by glaucoma simplex, six cases (19.4 per cent) showed an elevation of 6mmHg or more.

4) Correlation between the lid-closure test and the dark room test was not in evidence.
