  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The authors succeeded in establishing crite-ria for the retrospective diagnosis of rubella syndrome based upon the epidemics in Okinawa during 1965-66. The presence of rubella retino-pathy was the most frequent occurrence of and therefore the most trustworthy diagnostic cri-terium of prenatal rubella infection.

A mass survey of children attending schools for the deaf in Okinawa led to the detection of 26 children who fell victim to the rubella epidemics during 1965-57 which occurred as precurser to that of 1965-66.
