Steroid Responsiveness of Intraocular Pressure in Normal Population

I．緒言

　副腎皮質ステロイドの局所使用により正常および緑内障眼においてしばしば眼圧上昇が惹起されることは周知の事実である。近年，その眼圧上昇の程度が原発広隅角緑内障ときわめて密接な関係にある遺伝的素因により決定されることがBec—ker, Armalyにより報告されたが，その遺伝形成についてはまだ意見の一致をみていない^1）〜5）。また，皮質ステロイドによる眼圧上昇機序についても房水流出抵抗の増加が大きな役割を演ずる場合の多いことは疑いがないが，ステロイドによる房水産生量の変動がステロイド高眼圧発生の上で果たす役割についてはなお議論のあるところである^6）〜9）。

　このように，ステロイドによる眼圧上昇は近年眼科領域への強力なステロイド製剤の導入と相俟つてきわめて重大な問題であるにもかかわらず，その昇圧機序あるいは昇圧の程度を決定する遺伝的素因についてなお解明さるべき点が多く残されている。

64 healthy subjects (19 males and 45 females) were tested as to the steroid responsiveness fol-lowing daily topical instillation of 0.1% beta-methasone q.i.d. They had been judged as nor-mal according to the criteria of IOP level of less than 19mmHg, no family history of glau-coma, absent ophthalmological abnormalities and wide chamber angle. Appraisal of IOP and to- nographic state was conducted at the end of the 3rd and the 6th week after initiation of betamethasone instillation.
