視力の発達加速現象

Aceleration of Visual Acuity

I．はじめに

　1935年Koch, E．W．が人間の発達速度は世代を新たにするにつれ促進されていくという事実を明示した。この人間の身体の成長，成熟の過程の変移，すなわち発達速度の増加を発達加速現象と呼んでいる。発達加速現象は成長成熟という人間の身体発育のすべてを含むいろいろの側面に現われ，単なる個別現象ではない。これまでに身長，体重の増加の加速，歯牙発生の前傾，初潮年齢の前傾などが報告されている。

　筆者は本年，保育園児約2,200名の視力測定を行ない，その成績を5年前の保育園児と比較し，平均視力の増強が認められた。これは視力における発達加速現象であろうと思われるので報告するしだいである。

Binocular visual acuity of 2,200 children under 5 years of age attending nursery schools were studied with the use of Inouye's hooked opto-type. The arithmetic mean for the visual acuity of 3-, 4- and 5-year-children stood at 0.60, 0.89 and 1.06 respectively. The observed values are significantly over those studied 5 years before by the present author. The finding is inter-preted as an expression of acceleration of deve-lopment as concerns visual function and is pro-bably based upon the growing popularization of television viewing in their homes.
