Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of acute zonal occult outer retinopathy(AZOOR)who was initially diagnosed as psychogenic visual disturbance. Case:A 15-year-old female was referred to us for visual field defect in the left eye. She had had photopsia 3 months before and been diagnosed with psychogenic visual disturbance. Findings:Corrected visual acuity was 1.2 in either eye. No abnormal finding was present in the anterior segment, ocular media,or the fundus. The left eye showed constriction of visual field. Multifocal electroretinogram showed diminished amplitude corresponding to the site of impaired visual field. This finding led to the diagnosis of AZOOR. There has been no change in visual field for 6 months until present. Conclusion:Concentric constriction of visual field may be present in AZOOR simulating psychogenic visual field disturbance. Multifocal electroretinogram may be useful in the differential diagnosis.
