Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of cerebellopontine angle tumor and compression of internal carotid artery with transient photopsia as the initial manifestation. Case and Findings:A 56-year-old woman presented with an episode of photopsia in her left eye one week before. She had a sudden attack of hearing loss in her left eye 7 years before. Her corrected visual acuity was 0.9 right and 1.0 left. She showed no pathological ophthalmological findings. Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)showed stenosis of left internal carotid artery. Gadolinium angiography led to the detection of ipsilateral cerebellopontine angle tumor. It was diagnosed with neurilemmoma of acoustic nerve after surgery. Conclusion:This case illustrates that photopsia may be due to compressed internal carotid artery by intracranial tumor.
