Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of branch retinal artery occlusion in both eyes. Case and Findings:A 62-year-old male presented with blurring in his left eye since early morning. He had had ischemic cardiac and cerebral attacks before. His corrected visual acuity was 1.0 right and 0.1 left. The left eye showed findings compatible with branch retinal artery occlusion involving papillomacular artery. The visual acuity improved to 0.5 after intravenous prostaglandin E1 preparation. Central retinal artery occlusion developed 3 weeks later resulting in permanently impaired visual acuity. Branch retinal artery occlusion developed in the right eye 2 years later involving the inferior branch of papillomacular artery. He received intravenous prostaglandin E1 preparation with peroral aspirin and warfarin for one month. Visual acuity remained at 1.0 throughout. Conclusion:Intravenous prostaglandin E1 preparation with peroral aspirin and warfarin may be beneficial for branch retinal artery occlusion. Duration of treatment may be a decisive factor.
