地域住民において,腰部脊柱管狭窄の存在がQOLに対してどのように影響を与えているかは不明である.本報告では,地域住民における腰部脊柱管狭窄と包括的健康関連QOLとの関係を検討した.対象は,同年代の人口の21.5%に当たる地域住民1,862名である(最多年代層は70歳代).腰部脊柱管狭窄の診断は,東北腰部脊柱管狭窄研究会で作成された腰部脊柱管狭窄の診断ツールを用いた.また,包括的健康関連QOLは日本語版SF-36(version 1.2)を用いた.本調査により,腰部脊柱管狭窄の存在は健康関連QOLを低下させることが明らかになった.
Lumbar spinal canal stenosis (LSCS) seems to be common in the elderly, but, there have been few reports on the relationship between LSCS and health-related QOL (HR-QOL) in the community. The Minami-Aizu Study was conducted on 1,862 people (largest number in the 8th decade of life) who agreed to participate and were interviewed. They accounted for approximately 21.5% of the local population. The subjects were evaluated for the presence of LSCS by means of a specially designed questionnaire. Short Form-36 (SF-36) (Japanese version) was used to evaluate of HR-QOL. The results showed that LSCS had a strong negative influence on HR-QOL in the community.
