　自己免疫性末梢神経疾患における抗ガングリオシド抗体の病的役割が理解されつつある。本論文では，抗GMI，抗GQ1b抗体の測定を行うとともに，その結果がどのように臨床に活かされたかを例示した。IgM抗GM 1抗体が，運動ニューロン疾患からmultifocal motor neuropathyを分別する手段として役立った例を経験した。一方，IgG抗GM 1抗体はGunlain-Barré症候群の補助診断に，IgG抗GQ1 b抗体は急性に外眼筋麻痺を呈する疾患の鑑別に利用できることが確認された。各抗ガングリオシド抗体の特徴を活かした臨床応用が期待される。

Gangliosides, important constituents of the plasma membrane, are particularly abundant in the nervous system. Some patients develop Guillain-Barré syndrome after the administration of bovine brain gangliosides. We previously showed existence of molecular mimicry between GM1 ganglioside and lipopolysaccharide of Campylobacter jejuni isolated from the patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome,and that between GQ1b and C. jejuni isolated from Fisher's syndrome patients. Moreover, the anti-gan-glioside antibody can cause motor nerve dysfunc-tion in vitro. These support the pathogenic significance of anti-ganglioside antibodies.
