  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The case is reported of a right-handed patient, aged sixty-nine years, who showed the motoric aphasia after the operation of the right chronic subdural hematoma. The patient has been right-handed from the childhood and does not have hereditary tendency of left-handedness. The patient died of panperitonitis due to the perforation of sigmoid colon. An autopsy was carried out. It couldn't be determined whether the cause of the perforation was arteriosclerotic or traumatic. The supramarginal gyrus and lower part of postcentral gyrus in the right hemisphere displayed softening and thinning of cortex, while the left hemisphereshowed normal appearance except for small softening lesion in the lentiforme nucleus. It may be concluded that inotoric aphasia was due to functonal disturbance in the right hemisphere ofa right-handed man, so-called crossed aphasia was evidenced.
