A case of calcification of symmetrical bilateral basal ganglia was reported. This is the first reported case in Japan.

A 39 years old man visited to the clinic because of repitition of maniac and depressive condition, and difficuity of speech. He was slightly short stature.

Radiograms of the skull revealed bilateral sym-metrical calcification which was suggested by PEG situated in the globus pallidus. Besides, there was calcification of the lens and vitrous of the left eye. There were cystic changes in bones of hands and foot, and distal portion of fibula an tibia.

In this case, no evidence of clinical and biochemical change was found, and other members of his families were free of intracranial calcification.
