  • Look Inside

A 41-year-old man was admitted to our de-partment two hours after trauma by motor car, suffering from headache and complete fracture of the left femoral bone.

He was unconscious after trauma, but then aroused in short intervals. General examination at our department gave essen-tially negative results, but about seven hours after trauma he became stuporous, profusely sweating the body temperature rose to 38℃.

EEG in eleven hours after trauma showed lazy activity on the right temporo-occipital lead, but the right carotid angiogram was interpreted as normal. His condition became desperate and he died 16 hours after trauma.

Autopsy performed 8 hours after death did not show macroscopical change from the brain, but microscopical findings were fat embolism in bilateral cerebral and cerebellar arteries, especially medulla oblongata, pons, and thalamus. The same findings were made in the lungs, liver, kidnies and so on.
