  • Look Inside

(1) The rigidity in the sense of Sherrington could be evoked by partial transection of mid-brain aftet the exposure of the central surface of brain stem and medulla by our new opera-tion technique.

(2) A partial transection for about 2.5mm at the midline of the midbrain was sufficient to ensure the decerebrate rigidity, and not ne-cessary to take a total transection.

(3) Unilateral section induced the rigidity of homolateral limbs.

(4) The inhibitory centre for the decerebra-te rigidity seem to be localized in the central grey matter above the transected level, being limited within 5-6mm in length, 2.5mm in width.
