The present study developed the Japanese version of the Work and Social Adjustment Scale(WSAS)and examined its reliability and validity through online investigation. The participants were 250 Japanese people(125 men, 125 women, their average age of 46.84 years, SD=9.93). As a result of exploratory factor analysis, this scale was a simple measure as a measure of social functioning impairment consisting of five items across 1 factor. This scale had 2-week test-retest reliability(r=0.69). Moreover, correlation coefficient between this scale and Sheehan Disability Scale was r=0.69 with strong correlation, and criterion-related validity was revealed. The Cronbach's α was 0.95, indicating internal consistency. After two weeks of intervals, this scale was retested with r=0.69, and test-retest reliability was sufficient. Construct validity was indicated, showing moderate correlation with PHQ-9(r=0.54)and GAD-7(r=0.57). Therefore, the Japanese version of the WSAS is a useful measure of social functioning impairment.
