  • Look Inside

Three cases of massive pulmonary embolism were treated with the administration of urokinase into the main pulmonary arteries. The patients were all female, aged 77, 68, and 41. First 2 cases presented themselves with acute dyspnea, chest pain, cyanosis and shock. The third case showed its appearance as sudden cardio-respiratory arrest after pelvic arteriography by Seldinger technique for benign chorionic epithelioma. The initial EKG's were all consistent with acute cor pulmonale. Lung perfusion scans and pulmonary arteriographies show-ed the presence of massive pulmonary embolism.
