  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Medical massspectrometer normally performs in vivo measurement of respiratory, blood and tissue gases. Blood gas measurement are made continuous-ly via a silicon membrane-coated stainlesssteel catheter through which gases pass to the massspectro-meter.

The "in vitro module" broadens the system capability- it allows for the withdrawal of blood from any sample site and injection into the "in vitro module" for analysis by medical massspectro-meter (MEDSPECT II).

Presently, inert gas measurements can only be made by means of a gas chromatograph. The "in vitro module" is especially designed to measure inert gas (argon).
