 Typical pulmonary interstitial edema was pro-duced by steam inhalation (70℃-90℃ at carina) in anesthetized sheep with lung lymph flowing through the right thoracotomy : Lung lymph flow (Qlym) and its protein flow (Qprot) increased remarkably (100%). Postmortem extravascular water content (Qwl/dQl) also increased signifi-cantly (20%). Histological study consistenly showed perivascular and peribronchial cuffs.

 Pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) increased remarkably due to remarkable increase in pulmo-nary arterial mean pressure (Ppa), decreased left atrial mean pressure (Pla) and cardiac output (Qb).
