  • Look Inside

A new type of capillary glasselectrode for pH measurement of the body fluid was manu-factured by the authors and the nature of this electrode were examined.

The resulte obtained are as follows.

1) Using this ultramicro-glasselectrode, pH of the sample is determinable at the minimum level of 0.0006 ml. It is possible to collect the fluid directly from the organisms and also to regulate temperature of the sample, with the aid of this apparatus.

2) Potential of the glasselectrode equilibrates rapidly and their remains for about ten minutes. The wide range of pH (1~10) are measurable.

3) The regression coefficient between pH and electromotive force corresponds with Nernst's theoretical value.

4) The exprimental error of ranges less than 0.01 of pH and the pH value is accord with the values obtained by other reliable electrodes, within the range of 0.02.

Various body fluids were measured by this electrode and the broad applocation was em phasized.
