IMGP(inflammatory myoglandular polyp)that is reported by Japanese pathologist is a nonneoplastic colorectal polyp. Although IMGPs have not been recognized, this polyp has a distinct clinicopathological features. The aim of this study was to identify the clinicopathological character and to reaffirm this type of polyp as a distinct entity, compared with solitary Juvenile polyp and“so-called solitary inflammatory polyp”. Our study showed that histologic confirmation of the inflammatory granulation tissue in the lamina propria, radical proliferation of smooth muscle, and hyperplastic glands with variable cystic changes formed the criteria for the selection of patients. In addition, pedunculated polyp and spherical polyp head help pathological diagnosis of this polyp. The patient had neither chronic colitis nor diverticula. Clinical presentation, localization, and histology give this type of polyp a unique appearance and justify its designation as a separate entity.
