Opinions of 64 experts have been asked concerning the question: What are the factors that hamper most the development of gastric mass survey? As a result, it has been found that present impediments to carrying out mass survey are to be seen in insufficient enlightenment of people, inadequacy in the medical system of examination, shortage of doctors, high cost of examination per person. and dread of gastric cancer among potential examinees. Consequently, it is of utmost importance to remove these obstacles. At the same time, some kind of statute, for instance, the Cancer Prevention Law, similar to the Tuberculosis Prevention Law now in force, is most desirable.
The author tried to picture to himself various facets of gastric mass survey ten years hence, based on its analyses from every possible angle. Diagnosis of cancer by means of subcutaneous reaction would have been established by then, with this reaction applied in mass survey as well. Indirect x-ray photography would still remain an important procedure not to be easily discarded because the number of examinees would have increased tremendously. With the progress of endoscopy, the diagnostic ability of x-ray would also be much increased. Cancer Prevention Law would be enforced by then so that all the people over the age of thirty would be obliged to undergo gastric mass survey. It should be an enterprise on a national level, overcoming the slackness it is now in.
